Frequently Asked Questions

How do I save a new place?
Tap the "+" tab at the bottom of the app. Search for a restaurant, cafe, or bar using the search bar, or long-press on the mini map to drop a pin manually. Fill in the details and tap Save.
How do I share a list with my partner?
Go to the Shared tab, tap "Invite Partner", and send the invite link or code to your partner. Once they accept, you'll both see all shared lists automatically. Both of you can add, edit, and delete places freely.
Do my places sync across devices?
Yes! Your private places sync via iCloud automatically. Just make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on all your devices. Shared lists also sync in real time between you and your partner.
Can I navigate to a place using Waze or Google Maps?
Absolutely. Open any place's detail screen and tap the Waze, Google Maps, or Apple Maps button. If Waze or Google Maps isn't installed, the app will offer to open directions in your browser instead.
Is my data private?
Your personal places are stored in your private iCloud account — only you can see them. Shared lists are visible only to you and your connected partner. We don't collect, sell, or share your data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy below for full details.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Go to your Profile screen in the app and tap Sign Out. Your private iCloud data remains under your Apple ID's control. To delete all data, you can remove the app and its associated iCloud storage from Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage on your device.

This Privacy Policy describes how Mapbite ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

All your data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit technology. We do not operate any external servers. Your data is protected by Apple's iCloud security and encryption.

4. Shared Lists

When you create a shared list and invite a partner, the places in that list become visible to both participants. This is handled entirely through Apple's CloudKit sharing framework. You can disconnect from a partner or delete a shared list at any time.

5. Sign in with Apple

Mapbite uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. Apple may provide us with your name and email address during sign-in, depending on your choices. You can use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature to keep your email address private. We use this information only to identify your account for sharing features.

6. Photos

Photos you add to places are stored in your iCloud data associated with Mapbite. Photos in shared lists are visible to the partner you share with. We do not access your full photo library — only photos you explicitly select or capture within the app.

7. Location Data

Mapbite requests "When In Use" location permission to show your position on the map and to help you find nearby places. Your location is never stored, transmitted to external servers, or shared with third parties. If you deny location access, the app will still work — you can search for and save places manually.

You can delete individual places, shared lists, or your entire account at any time from within the app. To remove all Mapbite data from iCloud, go to your device Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Mapbite → Delete Data.

9. Children's Privacy

Mapbite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
